Job Description

Our client are a recognised industry body for the property sector and work to promote best industry practice across sales, lettings and auctions of property.

Following an internal restructuring last year and the decision to bring press work in-house, they are now looking to recruit an experienced Press, PR & Media Manager, to oversee the production of all external press comms. The role is an important one within the company, as you will have exposure to working alongside all of the key business stakeholders, industry journalists and VIP’s. The work that you produce will directly affect and influence the sector, our members and further raise the profile of the association and the industry at large.

Key Duties & Responsibilities;

  • Primary responsibility for external communications for the company incl; statements, press releases, media alerts.
  • Setting up media meetings for key stakeholders
  • Drafting briefing notes for journalists and attending these meetings.
  • Media monitoring and analysis
  • Attending and presenting on media activity.
  • Development of research briefs for media activity
  • Attendance and providing advice to staff for radio, TV and other broadcast interviews.
  • Monitoring key issues within Parliament for our wider audience and coordinating with internal teams on the wider distribution.
  • Setting up and attending appropriate MP and ministerial meetings.
  • Management of integrated campaigns
  • Management of ‘Ask the Expert’ initiative
  • Briefing notes on ongoing political issues, ranging from; Brexit, Budget Statements, General Election etc) for the potential use with members.
  • Lobbying on behalf of members and the wider industry sector.
  • Providing a range of PR strategies and / or client information to the media (newspapers, magazines, radio, television and online news sites).
  • Writing external press releases, features, comments, case studies and blogs
  • Developing news angles, stories and pitches to further raise the company’s profile.

Skills/Experience required;

  • Previous/current experience in an autonomous Press/PR Management role, able to ‘hit the ground running’, with current press contacts/network.
  • Working knowledge of legislative processes and procedures, preferably UK wide.
  • Excellent copywriting and proofreading skills. Creative, able to write news articles, stories, edit creative for varying audiences, drafting reports and position papers.
  • Able to work collaboratively with internal/external stakeholders and able to overcome barriers.
  • Able to delegate work, as this role will have some line management responsibilities.
  • Able to work to strict deadlines, balance competing priorities and respond flexibly to external requests.
  • Influencing and negotiating skills
  • A passionate PR professional who is committed to multi-channeled PR.
  • Degree educated in a relevant qualification.
