Job Description

Our client is a hugely successful and award-winning company that develops high-performance software and hardware products for the entertainment, engineering, and life science industries. They are looking to acquire the services of an experienced Buyer to join their team at their site near Kidlington. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you will be involved with all aspects of procurement within the company and demonstrate a willingness to develop and learn. Buyer main responsibilities

  • Procure materials from approved suppliers in line with the business forecast.
  • Purchase 3rd party materials to meet customer requirements.
  • Continually review and maintain the key parameters of materials for the MRP system to work effectively.
  • Work with the Sales team on ensuring customer order requirements are met.
  • Support approved suppliers, through continuous communication of the business needs, as well as developing them for future demands.
  • Work with the Operations team in ensuring material on-time delivery and quality are achieved.
  • Support engineering development procurement when required.
  • Work with Finance to ensure accurate and timely reporting to approve/ensure payments are correct and paid in accordance with current requirements.
  • Work alongside the Supply Chain Manager in developing the solutions that meet both immediate and future business need.

Key Skills/Experience

  • Previous experience within a Buying or Purchasing role.
  • A genuine drive and ambition for continued learning, development and success.
  • Experience in Electronics, Electromechanics, Plastics and/or metals is highly desirable.
  • A proactive approach to business targets and future plans.
  • Proven delivery of business needs on time and at cost.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams within a business (Sales, Finance etc…)
  • Experience of Contract Manufacturing in terms of relevant methods and business practices.
  • MRP systems usage experience.
  • An understanding of Business Financial requirements, Contractual needs, terms and conditions.
  • CIPs qualified or part qualified (or wishing to take up CIPs for development – the business can support this activity).

Additional Information

  • The working week is 37.5 hours with the core hours being between 9.30 am – 4 pm.
  • There is an opportunity to work from home 2 days a week
