Job Description

Our client is an established forward-thinking, family-owned business specialising in the growing, packing and marketing of subtropical fresh fruits and vegetables from all over the world. They are proud of the many partnerships they have built with producers both at home and abroad, enabling a reliable and innovative supply of high-volume, quality produce to our major supermarket chains. The business is now looking to recruit an experienced HR Business Partner to join their busy team. The successful candidate will be a strong HR Generalist and will need to be able to hit the ground running in a fast-paced FMCG operation. As such, prior experience within a manufacturing, food or other FMCG business is highly desirable.

Please note: Due to location, you will need to live within 30 miles of the Atherstone on Stour site (Near Stratford upon Avon) with a driving licence and your own transport.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business partner members of the management team to drive engagement, development, efficiency and profitability across the business.
  • Full accountability for the entire HR lifecycle.
  • Manage all aspects of employee relations including Union liaison in order to ensure strong and harmonious relationships across the function and business.
  • Advise, counsel and coach managers and employees to ensure consistent and fair application of HR policies, practices and procedures in line with legal requirements.
  • Ensure that the HR systems remain at a standard that satisfies auditing requirements including HMRC, ETI and Sedex and UKBA.
  • Manage the high-volume ER casework including disciplinary, grievances and performance management.
  • Work closely with the People Manager to support the implementation of the HR strategy and transformation programme.
  • Provide advice on recruitment initiatives- including attraction, selection and on-boarding processes.
  • Champion and drive a strong performance management culture across the function by coaching and developing managers and employees on Performance Development Reviews and delivering PDR training to managers and employees.
  • Monthly reporting on employee data.
  • Support in the reduction of absence management and work with employees and the wider team to enhance employee well-being.
  • Update and maintain the time and attendance database.
  • Partnering the business to understand operational requirements and how HR can support the delivery of objectives.
  • Support staff development through learning opportunities.
  • Upskill Line Managers/supervisors by identifying training and coaching opportunities on HR practices and ways of working.
  • Represent HR in weekly Operations meetings, H&S meetings and external supplier visits.
  • Conduct regular HR audits to ensure compliance with ETI, and employment law practices.
  • Support consultations with Trade Union and engage employee representatives.
  • Responsible for engagement initiatives including social media and intranet updates.
  • Responsible for wider administration including; issuing contracts, managing probations and changes in employment.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience working in a HR role within food, manufacturing, agriculture or FMCG industries
  • Strong knowledge of employment law – both current legislation and upcoming changes
  • Experience working within a unionized site is highly desirable
  • Confidence managing a varied ER caseload
  • CIPD qualification desirable, or qualified by experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to liaise with a multi-cultural, diverse workforce
  • Ability to use MS Office
  • Awareness of implications of GDPR and confidentiality of personal information
  • Understanding the importance of confidentiality in dealing with all HR issues
