Director Claire Kingsbury was yesterday privileged to be made an Honorary Commander of RAF Croughton in recognition of her invaluable work for the local business community. In a ceremony held at RAF Croughton, Claire was presented by Squadron Commander Robert Waarvik with a Silver Tankard, a presentation case containing the American Flag and a Silver Coin all of which have great symbolic meaning.

The duty of an Honorary Commander is to encourage an exchange of ideas, experience and interaction between the military communities of 422d Air Base Group and the local civilian community. As an Honorary Commander Claire will get to know her squadron and learning what they do on a daily basis whilst helping to enhance connections with the local business community.

Claire said "I am thrilled to have been asked to take part in this years Honorary Commanders Program. I understand what a privilege this opportunity is, after all it is not every day you are asked to be an Honorary Commander! I have already learnt a lot about the base and how valuable it is to our local economy and look forward to meeting more people from my squadron and being part of the link between the two communities".

  • Hi Simon.
My role is to help create a better link between RAF Croughton and the Banbury business community. I think that there are many ways to improve the communication between the two communities. Working alongside my counterpart Commander Waavik I hope to be able to put some great initiatives in place in the coming months. Watch this space for updates!
